Another poster in the series defining terms that deal with language. The ampersand was laser-cut out of plywood and printed. The text says, "In the early 1800s, the ampersand was considered just another character in the alphabet. School children saying their ABCs would end their daily recitation with 'X, Y, Z and per se &.' The words 'per se' are Latin for 'by itself.' Over time, the words began to run together, 'and per se &' became ampersand. When a new word grows out of a mispronunciation it is called a MONDEGREEN."
