This poster was designed after a trip to Rome with students. It is part of a series of posters defining terms that deal with language. The text says, "INITIALISM. An initialism is an abbreviation made up of initial letters which are pronounced seperately, like CPU, BBC or SPQR. Seen widely in Italy, SPQR has been used since 80 BC. It stands for Senatus Populusque Romanus which translates as The Senate and People of Rome." SPQR Initialism
